side by side

hi guys i posted a similar thread about a week ago but got no response.
Basically any cd or dvd i try to run comes up with a side by side configuration error of some kind. I have uninstalled C++ 2008 and am using the 2005 version but it makes no difference.

I changeed the cd and dvd drive letters as that worked before but not this time as far as i can tell.

Any ideas on a fix as i need to install some stuff from dvd.

They are ide not sata drives if that makes any difference.

Here are some shots of the errors that come up:

The most common error is the second picture on my dvd drive. The top is on the cd drive.

Im pulling my hair out here any suggestions?

As they are IDE have you checked the jumper config on both drives? i think they should both be on Cable Select,

I had a user that had this problem we had to install the c++ 2005/8 packages and then get the user to right click the setup file and choose run as administrator..

Although I dont know about the first error

yeah double checked the jumpers earlier. both on cable select.

Bry sorry to be a pain but can you go into more detail? do you mean install the 2008 over the 2005?

avira antivir now has the same fault when automatically starting up. I tried a system restore but no luck... sod it, windows 7 here i come!

right windows 7 is installed and is running nicely (64 bit)
