Sidewinder X4 query

I've finally decided to replace my current cheapo keyboard, and I've been looking at the Sidewinder X4 as an ideal candidate. There's one potential problem, though, which is I don't know what the keys are like. I've used my friend's G15 and hated typing on it. To paraphrase an opinion I saw, it was like the keys were mounted on gummy bears. I much prefer my keys to have little resistance, which is where my thread comes in. Is there anyone here who has used an X4 who can give me an idea of what it's like to type on?

I have had my X4 for about 3 weeks now and I find it very nice to type with. The keys have a nice travel on them and a reassuring feel. Its very hard to describe, almost like your normal el cheapo type keyboards but feels a lot more quality. The keys to me have a nice resitance.

I find it really pleasant to type on. It's not as loud to type as my old keyboard. My only minor gripe are the keys are quite smooth but this doesnt detract form it and in fairness if they weren't it would probably be harder to move from key to key quickly during games.

It is all down to personal preference though but at its ucrrent price you cant really go wrong.

Sorry about the delay - I've been a bit sidetracked. We're redecorating at the moment, so I haven't had chance to go and get it. I should hopefully have time to go and pick one up within a fortnight.

I just bought one myself for my new system, should be here in a day or two. I am pretty picky about my keyboards and will let you know what I think!

So, keyboard arrived in a MASSIVE box for some reason, then in a box in that box...was a box...and in that box was the keyboard!

First impressions are its very very well built. Feels very sturdy and well made. The backlighting is very nice and simple to adjust.

Typing feels nice, not quite laptop like but also not usual keyboard ish. A few key features which I have had time to try out are the media play buttons which are super easy and nice to use. The calculator button is scary useful for myself and if you use it daily you will too.

As for comfort, your wrists rest easy on a textured rest.

so far cant fault it. will update tomorrow after some proper typing and a bit o gaming.

Had some time to type on it now and so far its great. Still getting used to it easy but the only problem I am having is pressing the macro key instead of shift with my little finger. Probably just my silly big hands mind. The backlight at night is also very good. Its quite clearly visable but without any distracting brightness or bleeding from between the keys. the lights very even all over the keyboard as well.

Overall I'l give it 9/10 simply because I am finding it hard to fault really. The worst part is the gloss surround to the keyboard which is getting dirty fast from where fingers touch it.

I hope thats helpfull!

Thanks for taking the time to post up a quick little review, that's sold me on one now. I'll most likely be picking one up this week. Thanks again, guys.

I kept pressing the macro key instead of shift initially too lol, in fact still do it now occasionally.

At this price and quality I would give it a solid 9/10 too
