Couldn't really think of anywhere else to post this and everyone on the photography section has decent sigs, so, here's my problem:

Whenever I make a sig, in PhotoShop CS2, the end result is always really grainy, the final gif or jpg of the sig has no sharpness at all. I've tried putting up the resolution but that never makes any difference to the end result. If someone could help that would be great, cheers in advance :)

I don't have one atm (i'm assuming you mean the final sig image). I'm probanly not going to make one for a while lol. If you could tell me how you made yours, i.e. what starting size in photoshop and what dpi resolution that would be great because it looks pretty sharp. Thanks, i hope im not being too cheeky :)

No problem. (Which sig are you referring to though - mine rotates through several images!)

They all started as a full size image from either my Ixus or my 20D (with no sharpening - from RAW).

Custom crop tool to 400px x 75px (DPI is irrelevant if you crop by pixels). Then sharpen in your favourite way

I think the key is how you save the file - I used photoshop 'save for web'. You can select a variety of image types - GIF, PNG, JPG etc and their associated settings. For most of my images I selected JPG and dragged the quality bar down until the file size (lower left corner of the window) is less than 20K. For one or two image, PNG provided better quality for the file size. Just have a play around
