Thats two in 3 months gone now, well it was their fault- both old roll ball jobs and the damn things would occasionally just refuse to behave now and then which quickly gets my blood boiling
I see lazer mouse's are the way to go now (only ever used roll balls till now), the only experience i've had with them though is yeah their quite senstive but they can misbehave too, as in they reset or 'jump' to opposite part of screen to where im moving cursor. So could someone reccommend me one which is reliably good, i mean i dont need a fancy looking thing, just something that wont do any funny business on me and i can use for gaming. TIA

logitech mx1000 is an excellent mouse, i've not experienced any screen jumping or freezing with it.

I think that was only a problem on the older wireless optical mice.

If you want something cheap but good quality you cant go wrong with the standard MS opical mouse. I gamed with it for ages and loved it.

Me to, i second that....... i have an MS Comfort Optical now, and its just as nice, but much faster and more responsive and not very expensive either.

Don't forget that the half the reason for the jumping about, is because they are on mirror surfaces. Ie: your cheap and nasty generic computer desk, laminate wood.

Ok, looks like i'll check out the standard MS optical mouse, seems reasonable enough.

Basmic, your standard mouse matt is good to go with a optical mouse though?

Another vote for standard MS optical. I have a logitech 518 for gaming which is excellent, but I used to play CSS with my old optical MS mouse and for some reason I'm still much much better at CSS with the MS mouse than the 518.

As long as it isn't reflective any mat is fine. The MS mouse is not really that fussy. It works fine on my desk and it is well polished.

I'm just using a stanard felt mat at the mo, never ever had any jumps or hops from either mouse.

Another vote for this. I'm using my 5 button version to navigate this page. They're dirt cheap and they last forever. MS makes some great hardware. If only their software...

Any mouse pad is fine. I don't even use one and my desk is polished wood.

I wish I could recommend the microsoft keyboards as well but they are such a stupid shape I cant use them.

Don't get people that get angry with their computer kit, or anything else inanimate for that matter. They scare me

All you have to do with the rollers is clean the dirt out anyway!

Good luck with your hunt and let's hope the poor new mouse doesn't incur your wrath also.
