Any opinions on this? Quite tempted for Christmas to get myself one but want to know how it weighs up against others that do a similar task? It will go on my 70-200 for the most part...will it live up to the quality this lens gives me with no extenders?

Comments from owners would be good :)

Would also like to know as im wanting one to
go with my 70-200 and can't justify the Canon one :(

I use this converter with the 100-300 F4 and its on the vast majority of the time. Like all 1.4x converters you loose a stop and this ever so slightly affects focus speed, most notably in low contrast shots.

There is a slight drop in image quality but in real world situations I cant see it, most of the time its hard to tell if I used the converter or not!

Just to prove you can shoot sharp images of challenging subjects with the converter here are two samples :D

Id forgotten you were going to be using this with a Canon lens.

Only get the Sigma is you cant afford the Canon. The Canon will give slightly better functionality. I say always buy teleconverters that match the lens you will be using it with.

Thats the problem...can't afford! Well, not the £200 or so asking price anyway.
