Now that i'm edging closer to buying a Sigma 100-300mm F4, i'm wondering about how exactly it attaches to a tripod.

Will it just attach to the screw like a camera?

What's best with this lens, to attach the tripod to the camera or to the lens?
Thanks!

There is a lens tripod mount fixed to the back end of the lens and that will accept a screw thread to either go directly onto a mono pod or onto your tripod by screwing the tripod plate into it and then locking it onto your tripod. Unless its a cheaper tripod that only offers a screw also like the monopods.

So does the lens come with the collar on the bottom AND a tripod plate?
Or does the tripod screw directly onto the tripod collar on the lens?

My tripod in a Manfrotto 724B with a Ball head.
