Sigma 120-300 availability in May and USB dock details announced

Firmware update for lens !
I was not aware there are chip's / RAM in simga 17-70 lens !

So how can you up date firmware ! ?

I do own 17-70 f2.8-4 DC Macro so not sure how the USB docking station will aid me ! ?

LOL! You seem a bit excited?! :D

This USB dock could be awesome for Sigma if it works as advertised. The price certainly looks good.

Because sigma do not own the blueprints for canon bodies and lens design, to make their lenses compatible to the mount they are designed for they need reverse engineer it.

A lens for came out in 2005 that works for the Canon 20D is likely that it won't work on the 700D.

Canon on the other hand has made sure all their EOS bodies and lenses are compatible to each other.

The USB dock basically let the user to make sure all their lenses work for all future bodies, bodies that sigma don't make. This is good for the consumer and for sigma themselves as they don't need to keep "fixing" their old lenses.

Tysonator your 17-70 won't be compatible with the USB dock - the dock is only compatible with new lenses that they've released since the overhaul of their line into Contemporary, Art and Sport.

The 17-70 which will be compatible (I think) is the new one which looks like
