Looking to pick one of these up for £200.....would you rate this lens and is there something better I should be looking at in that price range.

It is to be used on a 60D as an everyday lens.

Thanks for the help

For the price it is probably hard to beat but the Tamron 24-70mm is much better.

However, it isn't an every day lens at all on a crop camera. Have a look at the Sigma 16-60mm or Tamorn 17-50mm f/2.8 lenses, or better yet is something like the Canon 15-85mm f/5.6. A 24-70mm on crop works well as a portrait lens but for every day use you will be constantly swapping lenses.

If you want a 24-70mm on a budget especially on a crop get the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 might loose 4mm but it is considerably better than the sigma which I can't believe they haven't replaced with an IS art version yet!

but as above if I was picking a walk about for a canon crop I'd be after the 15-85mm canon lens it is a beauty unless your dead set on f2.8 in which case the tamron lens suggested by Janesy is a bit of a bargain.

I will be going for the Tamron, the Canon is not in my price range (used) plus the 2.8 will be useful to have.

Would you say the quality of the VC and non VC differ greatly. I have been offered a non VC for 145

Yes the Tamron.....ok thanks for that saved a bit of cash there....the camera bag is going to be looking pretty good this weekend.
