I'll keep it simple. Once upon a time most distros worked on my box. Lately none except PSlinucOs works. I get the dreaded Signal Over Range messgae with ALL of them. I can't really be getting bother with techno speak and a lot of mess around (don't mean that as snidy, and I don't really have the time or knowledge. As its my only I really need it, granded it is old and could be doing with an upgrade once funds allow but it does me and to be honest it all works 100%

Asus Barebones AS-P4645GC
INtel E2200
2GB OCZ
Seagate 2550GB SATA
Pioneer
15" lcd (culprate?)
I'm thinking of getting a new monitor which I'm fairly certain might fix the issue or if be a cheapy gfx card.
PC is only use for internet but I'm lost without it. Would love to use Linux agai as I'm a minimalist at heart.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Could be that either the screen or cable in-between is the issue. If the OS can't get the EDID information, it might be trying to set a resolution well outside the capabilities of the LCD. One thing to try would be using one of the text-based installers for a distro (for example, Ubuntu and many of its derivatives offer the Alternate install image, which doesn't use a GUI) and then right before installation is complete, use the live CD to chroot in to the newly-installed system, manually configuring X with the resolution supported by your screen.
