signature graphics edging problems

gah made my self a siggy used transparency and a transparent png file.
used it on another forum a touch larger as its allowed, they use a light colour scheme and so the edges around my graphics arent noticable but on here with the reduced one there is a horrible white border around the graphics. any easy way to remove without having to manually go around the image with an eraser?

hmm have self helped a touch, used png-8 but with no dither this time better result still some artifacting tho :mad:

Whats the best way and format to save them in?

Just use a 24-bit PNG and sod any IE users.
