Ive got a 17" LCD monitor at the moment, its a no make. Is it worth me upgrading would i notice much difference. If so what sort of differences will i notice ?

Thanks.

Depends what you upgrade to and how old you monitor is.

I had a 4 year old 17" tft and I upgraded to a 20" ws.

The improvement in resolution, colour quality and acreage blew me away. Even more so if you go for a 22".

Never regretted spending the money and brings a new lease of life to the games i'm playing.

If you are just looking at upgrading to a 17" known make screen you might not notice any difference. Depends how bad your current screen is. Does it suffer from backlighting problems? Is the contrast and brightness poor? Is it a slow screen with ghosting in games?

You can get some decent no brand 17" monitors so if you aren't suffering any of the above then swapping to another 17" is not worth it IMO.

Just get the card out and buy yourself a 22" ws. You won't regret it. ;)

Lol, its just the screen ive had for a long time. I do notice a lot of tearing sometimes but with really got FPS so it cant be the graphics card :P, would that be down to a bad monitor ?

Nope not graphics card. You'll get tearing with any lcd however the faster the lcd response time is, the less tearing you get.

I would suspect that with your setup you are acheiving silly high framerates on your low res screen which won't help and if old it will have a poor repsonse time compared with new monitors.

Some games are more susceptable to tearing than others. If it's an issue just enable vsync. Okay you are limited to 60 fps (or 75 fps with some lcds) but I doubt you ever drop below that so you'll have a fixed 60 fps.

ghosting is where it looks like an objected is there twice. Its the same as where u get a bad analoge TV signal.

Tearing has nothing to do with the monitor response time, I think you mean refresh rate don't you.

I know if I play for example UT2004 with Vsync off I get really bad tearing due to my fps exceeding my monitors refresh rate of 60hz, Turn Vsync on and it's as smooth as butter.

So in other words turn Vsync on.
