i know its an old card but could sum 1 plaese tell me if the artic cooler for this card is any quieter than the original.not worried about overclocking just want it quieter

NO.

In a word :p but they are more efficient so using fan control you may be able to reduce its speed therefore reducing noise output. This will totally depend on your case and cooling as i know those cards like to run around the 60c mark.
So if you have excellent case cooling and can reduce the fan speed without exceeding the cards temps then Yes.

Hope that makes sense.

YES.

In a word :p ...well it made a huge difference for me anyways..a lot, lot quieter

You are using ATITool to control the fan speeds? Certainly worth fiddling with before changing the cooler

so one yes and one no. case is p180 with amber fans and seasonice psu so only thing i can hear is graphics card. iv used ati tool but just wanted to know if other cooler was generally quieter

I've got an X850XT and I stuck a Zalman VF-900 on it. The temperature has dropped dramaticay (from around 50idle, 80-90stress to 38-40idle and 50-60stress) and I can't hear it at all. It was also really easy to fit :)

If you had a shabbier case I'd say go for the arctic since it exhuasts out the back, but since you have the antec, that shouldn't be a problem...I've seen plenty of posts praising the zalman

same experience over here, i bought an arctic cooler, but after silencing everything else in my pc i could just hear the endless rattle of the loose-fanned AC. i'm pleased to say that the Zalman is much better :) which also came with a nifty fan controller.

oh and to add the AC is a bit of a pain to fit, the Zalman is easier to fit (and cooler and quieter = winner)

to the contrary i always found AC very much easier than zalmans to fit, two nuts and jobs a goodun, also the zalman still cools better even when theres limited airflow, its a better cooler full stop...
