Want to replace the 80mm (they are 80's right?) fans in the back, just tried sticking a notcua 120mm in the 3 pin, but as I guessed, the earth is different, so didn't power up.

Anyone know any decent 80mm fan replacements that are very quite, the psu alone makes no noise for me what so ever. Tested without the fans, couldnt hear a thing :)

Talismoon whisper fans i think are the most popular and really effective. I was going to buy some for myself before my xbox packed in all together.
I think you can buy them off ebay though. :)

I bought a set of Talismoon fans for one of my old 360s - they were noisier than the stock fans!

Your best bet is to just buy one of the new quiet models :)

Install the games to the HD before you play them and you will cut out the DVD drive noise all together, then as utajoker said, turn the speakers up a little to hide the rest of the noise :P

Depends how serious you are, you could always look at water cooling it.

You can buy a W/C gfx/cpu plate that's been designed for the 360.

If you think standard fans are noisy at 5v, try upping them to 12v :D Then they are noisy!

Same here, Talismoon's were no improvement. I wouldn't say there were noisier, more that they changed the pitch. I've only found two ways to make the old style 360's quiet. 1/Wait for it to die. 2/Turn it off.

Sell off the old console and get the 360S.
