Currently have a P4 3.0Ghz in my Media center PC using the stock intel HS/F (I know!).
The noise is driving me nuts in the living room, so I'm looking for a silent alternative.

Don’t really know what to go for – should I go for a fanless cooler (will this prevent all overheating) or just a really quiet HS/F? Can anyone recommend something for me please?

firstly what do you use it for, silence may be had if your not caning it

freezer pro arctic, you'll be impressed over the 'stock' racket
and excellent cooling, and, dont have to remove the board, 5-10 minute job and what a diff
and cheap

am assuming its socket 775

Thanks guys.
Its used exclusively for MCE2005, so will never be overclocked or anything like that. All I want is the quietest solution for the job....

Is it Northwood or Prescott?

I replaced my Prescott 2.8GHz with a Northwood 2.8GHz in my MCE PC and the noise levels reduced dramatically.
