Silencing Pump whine?

It's one of those things that most people won't even notice above their case fans, however the fact that you are hearing it says to me you already have a very quiet system, i set my D5's to position 3 and this seems to erradicate the very low frequency whine for me. Either way up or down from that seems to introduce it again.

I'll try varying the speed... I just set it to lowest and was hoping that would be quietest, but by the sounds of it this might not be the case. :)

All my case and rad fans are below 600rpm, I need as close to silent as possible with this rig (hence going water).

You sure it's whine and not vibration being transmitted to the case? My DDC 3.2 is all but silent even at full pelt, but I had to isolate it from the case to stop vibrations being amplified.

If it is vibration then google something called Gelstuff. Its a little pad you put under your pump and it pretty much cuts out all vibration being transferred to the case. I used it with both pumps in my current system and its made the pumps silent.

I've just removed the pump from the bracket and it's not much quieter, so it much be vibration...

I think I can use foam or something to eliminate this vibration. :)

I have this pump, yet to be switched on though. But mine came with a foam pad which sticks to the bottom. :) So I've used that. :)

Well I was using the foam pad, but it was still whining... I've now put in extra foam and lifted it a little with elasitic and it's much much quieter. Thanks all. :)
