Hello,

I could be very shortly in the market for a new graphics card. It may well end up in the living room so needs to be very quite when watching films (2D performance?), obviously the quiter the better for gaming, but as I’ve got a 360 Elite which sounds like a hairdryer I can put up with a bit of noise while gamming. Silent 2D is essential though.

Gaming at 1080p

Any advice appreciated

Not sure I’d tackle a cooler change...unless it’s very easy (I’ve built PC’s and changed CPU cooler etc but the though of taking apart the Graphics Card does scare me a little!)

Will stretch to £180ish

Cheers

If you can do that, you can change a graphics cooler, same principle.

yup

they're really easy to fit :)

just follow the instructions and warm the card up first (play games for 20 mins) to make sure the heat paste won't stick so much :)

any card will be able to be pretty quiet when not doing anything taxing, all it takes is a fan profile.

'Fan profile' looks like the best option for me, just want it quite while watching movies/TV...might hang on and see what the 55nm 260 are like (might push the price of the old one down?)

Thanks everyone.
