Silent 40mm fan?

So my NB is pushing 80 degrees (!).

I've got a 60mm (I think) fan sort of pointed at it at the moment, which brings temps down to around 65, but it's by far the noisiest thing in my case.

I know a could bodge a bigger fan on somehow, but I just want a 40mm so I can screw it onto the NB.


Doesn't need massive airflow, just something to keep air moving over it. Silence is the main requirement.


What should I get?

Seems best option since all 40mm fans seem to spin at 4000+ rpm

I use an 80mm fan @1000rpm cable tied to the HSF. It's not pretty but it is quiet.

It's already undervolted.

It's actually the fan off an old AMD HS/F, so not the most ideal thing to be using...

Is 14db right?! That's lower than even the quietest 120mm fans.
