silent case fan

It's funny how Noctua really haven't been budged off their 'most silent fan' throne after.. what, over a decade. So bloomin' expensive unfortunately and I can never justify spending it.

The Noctua fans certainly are excellent. I think the main strength they have however is in the stability of supply. There have been fans along the years that can match the Noctua fans, the Scythe S Flex come to mind which match my Noctua fans for performance and noise no problem. The issue is most of these fans only last a year or two in the market then get discontinued while the Noctuas just stick around and are always there. The price is kinda high, but the redux line isn't that bad really for a great fan.

I have sp120 quiet and performance editions. The quiet edition on full is pretty silent tbh and the performance editions are like Concorde taking off on full but turn them down with a fan controller and they are near silent too. The af and sp series fans are similar in cfm but with the sp fans you get static pressure also so my recommendation would be sp120 performance pwm fans and set them up in the bios or with speed fan to a level you are happy with. If you do need extra cooling you know you can ramp them up to deliver it.

Get a fan controller. I have the Artics F12's attached to a basic Akasa model which is turned right down and they are virtually silent. Obviously this doesn't result in the meanest CFM but mine is a very basic system. Obviously if you are overclocking it might be a problem.
