Hi guys

Just after some help with deciding on some case fans.

I currently have a very quiet pc and I use the Asus fan Xpert to slow down the fans. I have a 200mm on the front and 120mm generic corsair on the back. I love this set up as it is so quiet. Both fans run silent at very low rpm.

I need to build a new system for my mate in a Corsair 750D. I was thinking of having 2 x 120/140mm fans on the front and a single 120/140 on the back. Im looking for three ultra quiet fans that can be controlled by the motherboard and dont have any bad sounds like ticking when they are ran at very low rpm.

I have been looking at these ones:
be quiet - Silent Wings 2 PWM, 140mm
Noctua NF-S12A PWM

The system will have a very quiet components in so the case fans really need to be silent. Anyone used these two fans or can give me some of their opinions please?

Thanks

My NF-F12s are super quiet and have no low-rpm ticking or anything like that, but my NF-A14 does produce a clicking sound when the rpm drops low so I would recommend the silent wings and the NF-S12A.

Thanks mate. I love running my fans very slowly so good to know about that ticking on the 14's

My NF-A14 in the industrial guise does seem to make a clicking sound also at near idle RPM.

Also I have the Be Quiet Silent wings 2 in 140mm form, and its deathly silent. Does not push as much air as it tops out at 1000 RPM, but for 800 of those, its impossible to hear and the last 200 RPM its barely audible.

Another vote for the NF-F12s here, I've experienced the same with the 140 fan so looking to replace it as it annoys me too much.

There's the black silent pro too, but those might be sensitive to certain things, it didn't play at all well with antec pressed out grill, in clean air very quiet.

The shadow wings I got are very nice, but less pressure and airflow per rpm, seemed fine with grill.

Psu wise id suggest evga g2 series, crappy fan but so efficient it wont spin up till atleast over 50% of its rating.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with A14 low rpm problems. I even sent the first one back for RMA because I thought it was unbalanced or something only to find out the replacemnet had the same problem lol!

Didn't expect to here clicking issues from Noctua, not cheap fans. I'm not to fussed about the lower pressure of the be quiet as I won't have any hot components in there.

My go-to fans are Thermalright TY-147A. They are 300-1300rpm PWM with near identical performance and sound to Noctua A14 (non-industrial).

But they are impossible to find here in UK now. :( This is even sadder because Thermalright is about to release it in a square housing. :(

Always the way mate, thanks for the input though.

The corsair 750D comes with AF140L fans, has anyone used these before? I have just been looking at some YouTube vids of their sound and they are not quiet but I assume they are being run at stock speed and not slowed down.

They are not great. They are literally louder versions of the standard Corsair AF140s, I replaced mine immediately
