Afternoon all,

My CPU cooler is now just stupid, it's NOT silent, or anywhere near quite. I need absolute silence. Or as close to. Mainly because my watercooling project is postponed. Need to save for holiday first :(

This is what I have, it's got nasty noise on the fan bearing, knocking noise and is generally really loud at 45%.

I want rid, I won't be going back to Zalman again.

Any suggestions?

All my fans are noctua, I'm very, VERY impressed with them. Used them for years now.

I like that slim one.

I run a NoFan CR-95C Copper IcePipe 95W Fanless CPU Cooler on my media PC. There are no fans on the PC at all, even the PSU is air cooled.

Andi.

That wont be silent, and it's about twice the price it should be. Terrible VFM IMO.

I use a Scythe Kotetsu and it's cooling ability defies logic, certainly much better than it's standard CPU cooler looks suggest.

In fact it cools my overclocked 4690k completely passive (0% fan, 100% silent) up to around 45c which means it only comes on for CPU tasks, whilst browsing/music/films it doesn't run, in fact all my fans do not run during these tasks and because I have a fan-less PSU it means I have a true silent build. MATX like yourself as well.

I only run a 900RPM fan on it so even when it spins up I can hardly hear it without straining.

May I ask how you acheive 0% fan?

It's something I'm striving for, my board doesn't support it and I really CBA putting a fan controller in play where I have to manually adjust the fans every time I fancy gaming.

Noctua U9S is one of the quietest around. Got one on order for my 3570k itx build. Under load its not going to match the big boys but for the size its pretty decent cooling. Though its got the Noctua tax. :p
