Silent PCI fan for graphics card

Can anyone recommend from personal experience a good PCI fan to put under my new 8800GTS to help exhaust air pushed out by the card into the case?

The Hiper Type-R PSU gets noisy when hot as does the 8800 which is a noisy beast when it warms up! Something like this...

PCI blowers are a waste of time in my opinion. They're noisy and hardly push any air.

What case and case fans have you got?

I have the Antec 3000B. Been running the X1900XT fine with a Zalman cooler on it for months. 12cm front and rear. Temps dont seem huge, but coming from ATI I cant find the temp of the card using the dodgy Nvidia control panel!

It's either the Hiper 530W PSU heating up and making noise under load of the 8800. Does anyone own a Hiper and can confirm if they run noisy under load? Seems the fan spins up quite a bit. Coming from a Tagan 420W and a silent PC its driving me nuts :(

Any ideas when Zalman, etc will be releasing a cooler for the 8800?

I have the same problem that I can't seem to read the temperature of the GPU. None of the tools seem to locate a sensor except for nVidia's nTune. Idles around the 60C mark which in comparison to my X1950 that idled @ just 35C. I have heard rumours that Artic are releasing something but have no idea about any dates and nothing on Zalman that I know about.

EDIT: Thermalright HR-03+ 8800 Cooler. Reviews look good on it too!

well since getting the 8800 my over temps of CPU and Gfx card are gone down. I changed my side case fans to blow out and this removes the hot air near Ninja and from exhust of 8800 where as before i had problems with 6800 ultra because the side case fans would take away the air from the fan of 6800 ultra. 8800 fan is near then end of the card.

very happy with case and fan flow and before i was looking to change it.

so if u have side fan over PCI/E set it to suck out air from case

the loudest thing in my rig is my new Tagan, the only time i hear 8800 is at post.

idle temps 54-58 and load 69-70 (74-77 with core OC'd to 650mhz and ram to 1800mhz ,this is cos dont need any more boost on the games i currently play).

I'm not so fussed about the temps of the card as the CPU is at 40C and the motherboard sits at 35C but the noise is horrific! I just couldnt pin it down to the PSU or the Card before I left for night shift :( Just wondering if others can confirm if a) Hiper PSUs are noisy under load or b) 8800gts cards are noisy under load. From the looks of things I'm actually thinking its the PSU now as others are saying the cards are silent!

well the BFG one i have is nice not much noise at all.

but my tagan does get annoying some times, wish there was a way to turn down internal fan

I have the BFG 8800 too :) HUUUGE card lol. So under load it looks like it's not the BFG in that case. Must be the PSU speeding up when it gets warm

Ok i put my ear near the exhust of 8800 there is some noise but the tagan is louder

Thats a bugger as my 420W Tagan was silent so was thinking of moving to another larger Tagan and getting rid of the Hiper! So much for that idea :( /heads off to start PSU search again

Well after more testing (setting the graphics card to manual fan) I can safely say the Hiper has to go! The card is just a whoosh of air and perfectly fine :)

The Hiper on the other hand WHIIIIIIINES away as the 12cm fan speeds up under load. You can hear it outside my room! NOT impressed

What good, silent PSUs are there? Dont suppose my 420W Tagan would power the 8800 :D ?

because of the noise and was thinking of getting 8800 i bought a Tagan 600 watts (i used to have 480watt Tagan) thinking it would be silent but due to the power the 8800 takes the PSU has to work hard to power it.

One thing i can tell you is that tagan CS is GREAT!!!!!

after getting 8800 (3 weeks now) i got some lock up and my v12 rails were low, so i posted on a forum which had a Tagan worker on it. some one from the forums told me to submit a RMA and they will sort it out.

I didnt have a receipt but filled it in (friday night) and on monday morning got a call from Tagan asking if i was free on tuesday for a replacement (i said wednesday would be Better). They came and gave me a NEW Tagan 600watts and picked up my old one.

The whole experience was great and it didnt cost a penny

Cool. I've posted in general hardware about it to see what recommendations are made. Now I've taken the overclock off my CPU the high pitch noise has gone! Weird, but thats PCs for you!
