I have the spec that is in my sig, at the moment my PC is in my room and on most of the time.

Currently everything I have in the PC is stock cooling, I also have a fan at the rear sucking air out of the case.

I would like to make the machine a little quieter, and believe that a quieter PSU would help me sleep better at night! :D

Can anyone recommend me one, I'm not looking to spend much more that £40.

Thanks

truebluecfc's mentioned PSU's are probably the best ones you are going to be able to get, plus they are very quiet, if not near silent.

Also your sig is too big, before Zefan catches you :) Max is 4 lines.

Thanks, changed!!, well until I can be bothered to load PhotoShop! ;)

The corsair vx450 is a decent silent PSU but i wouldn't choose it on an overclocked system. It's doesn't deliver very stable power.

Where have you got that from? not saying your wrong just want to know why you think that :)

from here...its probably ok but personally I would choose something that didn't have those little random voltage drops.

the HX series are stable as a rock though ;)

To be fair though, they were within specification and the SunMoon is a load tester that can be programmed to put either stupidly low or high loads (or both aka cross loading) and it would be hard to build a mid-top performance rig today that used less than 150w of power where the PSU's 12v rail had slight problems.

Ripple was 30mV on the 12v rail which isn't as good as the HX but ATX specification is 120mV and so that is still very good considering some power supplies get up close to that.

For a budget power supply, I think the cheaper Seasonic OEM internals of the VX series fair very well.

As long as the OP stays away from Tagan (Topower) and OCZ (FSP Epsilon mainly) power supplies he will be ok.

I think the Enermax and the Corsairs are fine choices for his computer.

Could do with knowing his computer specification though.

EDIT: Didn't see his sig via quick reply summary. The VX450 would be a great choice.

I would steer well clear of the Enermax Liberty 400w psu. I had one in my basic internet pc and the bloody thing blew up after only two weeks. Big bang and a flash and then tripped the main house breaker. Pathetic from a supposed quality psu.

I would go for the Corsair VX 450w. In fact i did as a replacement for the Enermax. They have been getting excellent review from just about everywhere.
