hey there guys, my psu is a hiper and its a bloody aircraft engine!! i need to get a new psu thats as silent as possible. ive been looking at psu on that site that suposedly only sells really quiet stuff. i have been looking at the semi fanless ones such as nesteq and q technology. people say the fan is off 99% of the time. was just wondering what people thought of these psu's, are they worth it.

i have a budget of 100 pounds and doubt ill need more than 500w

what can people suggest as the most silent psu for the money?

thanks for any help

p.s. my grammar and punctuation sucks! hehe

I went for a Seasonic silent PSU (120mm fan) and cant hear a peep from it unless I put my ear to it :) At 1metre away on the desk its inaudible. Fully recommended!

thanks junkie, i am tempted by a seasonic unless anyone says overwise.

just gotta decide if i wanna pay an extra 25 quid or so for modular cables :S

Get a corsair, the cable management will be very very good once i set mine up. Shame i cant have it yet not me bday :(. But heh :D.

I replaced my (blown up) Hiper with a Seasonic S12 Energy+ 650w for £97.48 delivered. It's a cracking psu with quad 12v rails and it's very quiet. I can't hear it and it's sitting next to me. My electric bills going to be less too as it is 88% efficient.

As you want something around 500w then maybe the 550w version would suit you better although the 650w version would see you through any upgrades.
