Evening all,

I'm trying to build a silent rig that will be running 24/7. The only place I can keep it is my room so it needs to be as quiet as possible and produce as little heat as possible.

Performance isn't an issue as the load on the machine isn't going to be high (hosting a couple of websites and domain controller for 2/3 of the house computers).

I'm looking at the Core 2 Duo E2140 with an Enermax Noisetaker PSU.

What are the stock fans like on the C2D chips? Would I do well to get a different one to reduce noise?

Any other things I need to consider?

Thanks in advance,

The C2D Stock cooler is, to be honest, rubbish!

Dunno what the size of the fan is, but its not very good.

Id recomend getting a decent tower cooler fo the CPU, and with some decent case cooling you could probubly cool it without a fan, or always stick a slow speed 120mm one on it. You can do much better than the stock cooler

P.S. The Sharkoon fans appear to be the forum favorate atm, planning on getting a few myself.
