Silient PSU Advice

Hi, I have built an HTPC that’s situated in my living room stacked with my other AV devices. The case I have is the Thermaltake IP Mozart which I really like but when I assembling the PC I used a cheap 600w PSU from an old case which I find really noisy, even when watching TV. I have a Gigabyte AMD770 motherboard, ATI Radeon 4650 graphics card and 3 1tb drives possibly more in the near future powered inside the case. My PC mostly gets used for downloading and either watching video or acting as a media server to other devoices throughout the home, with also surfing and other normal PC tasks.

Can anyone recommend a quality silent running PSU that’ll do the job for hopefully no more that the £50-£60 mark ?

Thanks

What sort of power draw are we looking at here? What's the rest of the system comprise of.

The most silent PSU would be a PicoPSU but you might be drawing too much power for those.

Truely silent psus cost a bomb, as they have no fans and use heat pipes to remove the heat.

A decent brand psu, rated at 500watts ish will be near silent. Choose xfx, corsair or be quiet and you'll be sorted.

Sorry not really that clued up on what the draw is or what necessary. The current PSU is 600w and never been any problem so was initially just something around the same power would be fine, or I am thinking to simply towards it ?

or just post up what main bits are in your PC (processor, graphics cards, number of hard drives and DVD/blu ray drives) and we can make a pretty good guess

i can confirm that the 530W bequiet lives up to its name on low power, however, the rest of my computer is so noisy under load i cant tell you what its like at high power, because the small jet engine that is the AMD Phenom II quad stock cooler drowns everything else out

for 600w I highly reccomend the seasonic psu's they have never let me down. I got three of em, all incredibly quiet. :)
