I used to play this game a lot. I stopped however because of large amounts of bots, but it seems there aren't so many anymore.

For people who don't know it's a typical grindfest like most MMO's that becomes easier if you do it in groups. So was wondering if anyone wants to play?

I know about the reputation of it for being overcrowded with bots but at the moment it seems that all the servers are not full because they have come up with new techniques to stop bots.

You can check server capacity here:

http://www.rev6.com/servercapacity/

If anyone is up for this then let me know, we would have to pick a server to go on.

The website is here www.silkroadonline.net (doesn't load in chrome. only IE + Firefox)

Played this for a while and quite liked it, but it quickly moved toward microtransactions being necessary to make any real headway. I doubt I'll go back to it, but as far as free MMOs go it's one of the best I've played.

I've heard a lot of good things about Silkroad online but have never tried it myself. Which is odd as I've tried pretty much everything else. I just figured it was "just another Asian mmo". I'd give it a go if others on here are playing.

You're best off looking on youtube and seeing what you think I'll give you a brief overview of what it's like.

Okay in terms of Races there are: European + Chinese

All can play in parties. When you level up you get 3 stat points that can be put on int (intelligence) or str (strength).

Chinese (Mainly for solo play): These characters are aimed towards solo grinding because they have self buffing capabilities.

The weapon skill trees:

Bicheon: Sword + Shield
Heuksal: Spear + Glaive
Pacheon: Bow + Arrows

The Elemental Skill trees:

Fire (Burn + Magic Def buffs + Phys atk buffs)
Cold (Freeze + Phys Def buffs)
Lightning (Parry ratio + Speed + Mag atk buffs)
Force (Healing)

Generally most chinese have 1 weapon mastery + 2 forces.

Str builds:
Str builds put all strength when they level up. They have high defence + high HP and are usually the bowman, blade + shield and glaive builds.
Fire is the best choice for your primary element as it gives phys atk buffs.
Light is generally the best second choice as it gives a speed boost.

Int builds:
Int builds put all intelligence when they level up. They have high mag defence + high mana and are usually nukers (nukes are like long range elemental bombs) which do high damage and usually wield The spear, or sword + Shield. These buiilds die easily because they have low HP but can 1 shot monsters from long distances.

Hybrid builds:
This is where you can share out your int + str points these are complex and i cba to go into them.

Okay now Europeans.

The classes are:

Wizard (Very high damage, die easy INT based)
Warlock (Loads of curses to make the enemy sleep or weakened etc, INT based)
Warrior (Tanks, can wield dual axes, 2h sword, and sword and shield)
Rogue (Use daggers or crossbows can turn 'invisible')
Cleric (Have healing abilities and buffs)
Bard (make music to boost speed + atk and def buffs)

Europeans are meant for party play, because they have a potion delay (you have to wait before you can use another potion to heal or increase mana) that is why you need clerics + bards to restore this for you.

Most builds go like this:
Wizard/Warlock/Rogue/Warrior + Bard/Cleric

Although some choose to go just Bard + Cleric and be a buffer.

Theres loads to do including a jobs system where there are 3 roles:
Thief
Hunter
Trader

The Trader gets a camel/horse/ox and buys produce in a town, they then have to travel to another town (no teleports) they get attacked by NPC thieves and player thieves which can loot your produce.
A hunter is there to protect you and can kill the thieves for you. This is a good way to make money if you're good at it.

PVP:

You buy capes at a shop, wear them then this allows you to fight whomever you wish who is also wearing a cape.

There is Fortress war, Which is basically where every main town in the map has a fortresss different guilds fight to own the fortress.

When you win the fortress war (weekly) you can set a tax on all the NPC shops in the towns and your guild gets the money.

Okay so that's it pretty much but it is waaaaaaaaay more in depth than that.

Oh and its freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. but there is an item shop too to buy other thingss.

I really want to people to play this I'm downloading it now and want people to join in and pick a server and make a guild together.

quit this long time ago and sometimes play on the private servers instead with 30x rates , the private server dont have the euro classes but this can be a good thing for ppl who hated that legend update,

also before anyone plays this offical version be warned this might take u years to cap urself and be fully farmed without the aid of illegal programs ingame

Yeah this was my first MMO, I played it from Alpha to the 80 cap. I really enjoyed it for ages, but it is a total grind fest and was bot ridden when I played it.

Not really anything to do at max level either, the job system use to be fun but they kept breaking it.

And as Braka said above, it is virtually impossible to hit max level and be fully farmed (have max skills) without botting because of the daft way the skill point system works.

Oh and its not free lol you will spend more cash on this (if you get into it) than any other P2P mmo! You have to get the 100% xp ticket...... then you have to get something to pick up your loot and when I played you couldnt even log in unless you had a gold ticket......
