Received my e6600 today for my first build, took it out off the box and had a look. Stupidly touched the chip, don't ask why! I know I should'nt have

In future I will only handle the chip by the sides, will any damage have occurred or can;t you tell until you power it up?

Thanks. I also touched the back off the stock heatsink, its a grey sticky type substance.

Feel a right idiot

In future with all off my other parts iam going to only touch the components sides and get a anti-static wristband incase.

aslong as you weren't rubbing it on the carpet or something I think you should be ok
