apart from turnning it on...which isnt an option at the moment anyway. is there any sure fire way to tell if a fans blowing air into the case or blowing out?

i've replaced my 2 drive bays at the bottom of my case with 2 x 120MM so just want to make sure i get it blowing air into the case.

Thankyou

Yes, normally, on every fan ive used, the cross brace is only on one side, and thats the way the air blows. Or spin it by hand, you will be able to tell. Plus, you can usually tell by the design of the fins.

I've recently put 3 120mm case fans onto some steel mesh that i was going to make a window in the side of my case with, to blow cool air onto the motherboard and memory. the cross bracing is on the inside so that the air blows towards the mb/ram.

But before fitting the mesh i installed the fans onto the mesh to test them and it seems that when the fans are close to anything inside the case the air is blown out of the case. But when the mesh/fans are about an inch or 2 anyway they blow air into the case. Is this normal?

easy way of testing is to hold a strip of thin paper (or rizla) over the fan grill to check. If your fans are doing a good job it should be easy to tell.
