Silly PSU question but urgent!

Which setting on is the PSU supposed to be on for the correct voltage, with the 115 or the 230 showing? Isnt very clear at all!

230 for the UK.

Which is which though, with the switch showing 230 is that set to 230 or does it have to be on the side the 230 is with the 115 showing? if you see what i mean!

It came with the 115 showing and the switch over to the 230 which is why i ask!

As above. Do not think that because the 115 voltage is lower than uk 230V that it will do no harm to your system (in case curiosity got the better of you like it did a friend of mine

)

Ah i know it has to be on the 230 setting, is this with 230 Showing on the tab, or do you slide it over to the side where the 230 is written when the 115 is showing.

I only ask because the psu came with 115 visable!

Stupid question but rather get it right and switch it over so the 230 is visable before i put it in the pc!

The voltage that you want it to run at must be showing e.g. in the UK, it should be showing 230.

not stupid at all, the voltage you want the psu set too should be readable on the back of the psu, so for uk you must be able to read "230" on the psu

Fantastic thats exactly what i needed to know, quite shocking that it came pre set as 115 had i not checked it first.

agreed! Never seen that before, did you purchase it from a US supplier? kudos for checking it first, I never do but will in the future!

Got it from ocuk, the OCUK Huntkey 550w, its just for a basic web browsing/office pc for my other half so didnt need anything flash.

Painful memorys there, wont be doing that again in a hurry

, luckilly it was only a 2 ghz celeron system (going back about 3/4 years i think) even luckillier it didnt suffer any damage and went on to work fine after buying new psu
