Silly question alert. Was there a windows 1.x and 2.x?

Hi

I remember going from DOS to windows 3.1 but was there earlier versions released coz I can't remember evan hearing about them. The old brain aint what it used to be though.

I would have thought so, but i doubt they were for general release. They were probably prototypes.

I actually have a copy of Win 1.0 somewhere.... spent ages trying to get it working with virtual pc to no avail.

I've got vague memories of Windows 2 and Windows 3.0. I was working as a Mac developer at the time and used to scoff at how clunky and slow Windows was. It was only when 3.1 came out that it started to get decent!

Until fairly recently my dad had a Ericsson 386 with Windows 2.0 acting as the printer server for his Power User 486 33MHz Desktop, which was still used up to a month ago for his accounts and invoices! He'd still be using it if lightening hadn't killed it.
