Right my 182 has 205/r50/16 wheels at the moment and I have no idea how these will perform in the snow.. as we have had bugger all whilst the rest of the country gets **** on!

My previous clio had some lovely steelies which couldnt of been more than 175 and it never got stuck in the snow up to 6-8 inches no doubt because of its skinny wheels and careful driver :p.

Would it be a silly idea to get some very cheapo steelies to match wheel the wheel diameter for the upcoming snowy months for driving to work..getting to shops etc..? Is there anyone out there with any real world experience who can tell me what this kind of profile and tyre size is like in the snow?

Other options could include...? not driving i guess! :o

My 205s on my winter runabout celica with non brand tyres have managed fine in some quite bad situations the last few days.

It should make a slight difference but I don't think it's worth the hassle unless you live in a particularly hilly area that doesn't get gritted.
