Silly question time.

Wife just switched from BT Fiber to Talktalk. Now the new router only has 10/100 ports, where as the HH5 has Gig ethernet, is the change going to effect our home network at all?

Setup we have is

Router -> 8 port gigabit switch -> then into the 3 PCs (7+ when we hold the LAN party's)

Should i be looking at getting a different 3rd party router with gig ports?

Should not effect your home network at all, as long as none of the PCs are plugged into the router directly, if all plugged into the switch then this will handle traffic between the PCs, router will only get involved when any traffic needs to go out of your network

Ah cool, not sure on the voodoo magic of the Switch haha. Figured it might slow down with it just been 10/100 split between 3+ devices.

Nope, it will not affect internal traffic so long as all the computers are plugged in to switch.

Only way this will affect you is if you wanted faster than 100 Mb/s internet at some point. In that case they'd have to supply you with a new router. Seems a bit short-sighted of them to not include a gigabit port with 160 and 330 Mb/s FTTC packages being available soon.
