thats weird i would have thought chipset drivers wouldnt matter to the bios. seeing as they are used when windows boots. But then again i could be very wrong lol

Not sure exactly what you mean.......

You mean you *have* updated the bios via windows and you gtot the warning afterwards?

Or..it wil not let you update via windows as you get this error?

If the latter just go off to the mobo manufacturers webby and download the latest correct chipset driver in the hope you don't get the error and can proceed.

Bit of a wierd error that I have never encountered in a bios update.

Me neither but i have never flashed in windows so could be a common occurence for all i know.

Also try the nvidia site as they may have a newer set of drivers than the mobo manufacturer

ok ill try and make it a bit easier to understand, i have updated my bios via the asus windows undate tool. but to get the next update it recomends that i upgrade the chipset drivers. just wondered how i do this, is it a case of downloading a patch and opening it?

I suppose *technically* you should do a fresh install of windows (so everything is tidy as such) but I don't think I would ever bother unless I have problems. :)

this is psot fresh install, but i have an opty and its not recognised until i update the bios. when i download the chipset drivers should it just work or what do i do with them?

download from Nvidia's home page & they should be self extracting - they were last time i used them

If they're the Nforce 4 chipset drivers then just install them over the top of the old ones, they'll be fine, remember not to install their IDE drivers (some have found them problematic) or the NAM stuff (unless you want to use the firewall).

Rotters, I did this myself a little while ago. I say the same message so downloaded and installed the unified drivers from nvidia then flashed the bios. I did not remove old drivers or clean-up before installing them. However, I flashed from a floppy as I no longer trust Windoze or ASUS Update to do the job without destroying my mobo!

I don't install Nvidia firewall or NWK managment software as it stuffed up every download I attempted when I tried it. :( However, I have had no problems or issues with the latest drivers or BIOS and that's for a few months now. ;)
