Silly question - what are they called?

When you go into a website and there is a box with important information and the background goes dark

Then once youve read it you click behind and it goes away?

what are they called?

im a complete novice at all this and am using Webplus

so if it aint a feature in webplus, i doubt ill be able to implement it
