Silly X-fire board question

Hey everyone,

This is probably a silly question but i wanted to make sure before i do anything wrong/stupid.

I have a crossfire board, and currently my 4870 is in the 1st pci-e slot. However directly underneath it is a xonar sound card, and my temps have increased incredibly becuase of how close they are.

So i was wodneirng if i could move the card to the second slot, and free up some space? then the airflow would be better. Im worried about the xonar getting too hot as well, it wouldnt have damaged it by being in this configuration would it? i ask as during games the sound gets a little warped and ive recently had problems with the card...

Cheers

I'm not sure how this relates to the fact that you have a crossfire motherboard?

Put your Xonar card in the furthest slot away from the 4870 you can, that'll reduce the amount of overheating they'll impact each other with.

sorry i should have been more clear, i just basically need to know whether or not the gpu will work in the second slot without any issues :)

I think he means that he has a 2nd PCI-E x16 slot

Like Kylew says, move the Xonar to the furthest away PCI-E x1 slot, distance them as much as posible

You should be able to (if both slots are 16x), as im using the 2nd PCI-E slot for my graphics card due to my Xonar being in the PCI-E 1x slot (which would have been covered over by my card if i used the primary slot, making it unusable), and its running fine at 16x still, but the Xonar can also work in any PCI-E slot, so you could move that to one of the other 16x slots if you wanted to, which i could do also really, just can't be arsed to move them about, and its fine how it is anyway. :)
