Silly Xbox 360 memory cards

I came up with an idea which in theory I thought was a good idea. I'd keep my 20gb harddrive purely for arcade downloads and buy a 120gb harddrive at sometime purely for video downloads.

I thought hmm I'll buy a 512mb Memory card so regardless of which harddrive I have in the 360 I'll still have access to my game updates and game saves. Perfect I though. Until I tried to put theory in to practice. I keep getting a message telling me on many of my save games and game updates that I can't move or copy them.

What the hell is the point of memory cards if you can't put all your save games on them?

The only game saves I've not been able to copy is forza 2. I do the same as you and I haven't had any issues at all with using the memory cards as back ups. I only do it for saves though, game updates are pointless.

The only reason you cant copy forza is to stop people selling cars they have backed up to the memory card, then reloading them again.

Noticed a few more games aren't letting you move saves between devices. FIFA Street 3 and another game which now escapes me have implemented this recently.

Test Drive Unlimited will corrupt your main save if you attempt to copy that to a memory card as a backup, so beware. I found that out early on when the game came out. Needless to say I had to restart everything from scratch.

I can understand the cheating thing, although I'm not sure how it works however for the very reason above I copy my savegames onto an MC every 2 months or so. However certain games like TDU can catch you out cold and you're screwed.

The original Xbox did this with some titles as well. Team Ninja use the "protection" on their games (DOA, DOAXBV).

With my recent 360 failing I went round a mates with my hdd and copied all my game saves to my memory card then to his 360. Sometimes you have to be signed into Xbox Live , sometimes you have to insert the game and move in from the games settings and sometimes it just doesn't copy.

It's a bit annoying, I can see why they would want to do it and to be fair I used to cheat on Mortal Kombat for the Xbox this way by copying my save then winning all the Koins on the other save. (Man that game kicked ass)

It's MS and DRM so yahknow...

If you cant move it, can you not just load it up, then change storage device when you go to save it again?

Yes I encountered this when I tried to move my perfect dark save game, you can move it you just have to load up the game and move it from within the game and not with the 360 dashboard memory management. Not sure if this applies to other games but give it a try.
