Silver Arrow Arrived

Hey guys, so the silver arrow finally arrived.
Just a quick Question, is the backplate required for 1155?
Some guy on youtube installed it on a 1155, but i thought it was for 775?

Yeah the back plate is required. Even LGA775 needs it although that needs a washer.

he then says in the commentary thay he accidentally installed the backplate and that it isnt neccesary.

Not sure what he's talking about, but given that he didn't read the instructions, I'm not surprised

. Anyway you do need the back plate. Also, a better way to spread the thermal paste is to just apply a small blob and let the pressure of the cooler do the rest.

He meant the little black washer that attaches to the backplate wasn't necessary, that's for 775 only.

those back plates are there for suport.
the weight of these after maket coolers these days could easlly crack a motherboard.

Yeah, that's the washer and you don't need it for LGA1155.

Oh, I think I used it on my ASRock. All seems to be working fine with it though

Did you not find it a tight fit with those large digi power blocks?
My ram kept me from a push pull.

wow that really is one massive cooler indeed!!! I though my megahalems was big but that blows it away!

Im thinking of going for an Antec Kúhler H2O 620 instead of an air cooler this time round

That's what she said. No but really it really is a huge cooler.
I've always been cautious of water cooling, two people i know had their set-up's leak and destroy everything.
