Welcome to the annual Silverpaw Prediction League for 2014/15.

The purpose of the competition is to predict the results, including the scores, of all Premier League matches. Any forum member can compete. No registration is necessary; members can predict as often or as infrequently as they like, though regular prediction is more likely to result in higher scores. You can also join in at any time during the season.

Scoring is simply three points for an all correct prediction of a match's scoreline, and one point for a correct result but incorrect score.

A separate thread will be started for each week of the competition, and predictions should be made in that thread. The thread will cover weekend games (generally Saturday to Monday) and any games scheduled for the following midweek, in line with the 'rounds' laid out by the Premier League website. For any match, a prediction will be valid if the timestamp of the post is earlier (even by one minute) than the scheduled kick-off time.

Beware of editing your posts, as an entire post will be assumed to have the time of the last edit. If you wish to change predictions for later matches after the first match has kicked off, the safe way to do this is to make a separate post. Results and cumulative tables will be included in the appropriate prediction thread.

Hopefully there'll still be a decent amount of interest in this game from players new and old! I had a quick look back and this will, unbelievably, be my 6th year of doing results. Anyone who's played in that time will know that I'm not the quickest in getting results up there, so, this year I'm looking for someone to do them with me on alternate weeks. Please let me know if you are able to help in this thread (with your predictions, perhaps) or through trust.

Right, with procedure out of the way, here are the first games of the new season to predict:

Man Utd - Swansea
Leicester - Everton
QPR - Hull
Stoke - Aston Villa
West Brom - Sunderland
West Ham - Tottenham
Arsenal - Crystal Palace
Liverpool - Southampton
Newcastle - Man City
Burnley - Chelsea

The first game kicks off at 12:45 on Saturday, so get your predictions in by then for them all to count! Please copy and paste the predictions above into your post, and type your predictions around the "-". As above, if you miss this deadline you can still post with predictions for the games that haven't kicked off.

Exactly the same as "Lawro" from BBC? That's how you roll is it? :)

Wow, you know I usually make a point of looking at Lawro's predictions to make sure I don't predict the same as him. Largely because I include his predictions in this game, as many of us take pleasure in beating him over the course of the season! This time I actually didn't check what he'd put, and this happens! Oh well, at least I won't be behind him after Round 1 ;)

I'm currently relocating, move in on Wednesday and from then won't have access to a computer as the one at home isn't mine so it's staying here. It'd be very difficult doing it all on my phone! If I could, I'd be more than happy to.

I actually used to do the weekly results, that was about 7 years ago now

Thanks dazza, I remember you used to do the results with Howard before me! You would definitely need access to Excel to use the spreadsheet I put together, but if your circumstances change please shout.

Round 1- Results

As el_dazza has pointed out, a somewhat tepid start to the season by all concerned! And that's no bad thing, keeping things as close as this after Round 1 means even those at the bottom this week could quite easily lead the table at the end of Round 2.

Still, explicit4u won't care one bit, as he wins the round outright and is the only player to break into the double figures mark with 10 points. Good effort! Second place is shared by no less than three players, with MikeTheNative, Tiger Woops and Ukadder all just a point behind. Certainly the closest start to the season for a while.

Welcome also to new players fez and GamingSlug. Hope you keep predicting. (apologies if I've missed anyone who is new to the game!). Cheers all. The thread for Round 2 is now available.

Also, I'm pleased to say, AndrewNR, that by virtue of one prediction *slightly* different to Lawro's, I managed to blag myself a scoreline and finish a couple of points ahead of him! ;)
