Hi guys. My fortress case has been brilliant however it's getting a bit old now and wondering what's out there that could compare to the build quality and ease of installation/ maintenance etc that the FT01 offered. Still air cooled though a quiet PC is important also. Anyone still make aluminum cases? Looked at the FT04 but it doesn't grab me. Any others to look at? Thanks for any info.

Loved my FT01 when I had it was only ever one downside to it that dang top filter stupidest layout ever for it. I am actualy looking at maybe coming back to the FT01 either that or the 350D.

Lol, yep that top filter is impossible to get to! I hadn't realised it's still for sale, might just get another one if I can't find anything else of comparable quality. It is overall an excellent product. What's the 650D like in comparison?

Its a lot bigger and heavier as the FT01 is Aluminum. I found a mod on youtube to get the filter to come out the side then again might be easier to remove it then add a deciflex one on top. Also yeah they do the usb3 version now.

Bigger and heavier is not good! It's strange that there doesn't seem to be anything better about still after all these years. Ah well a testament to a good design I suppose. Thanks for your help dude.

Well, what an interesting day! I've decided to stick with the FT01 for a bit longer, but thought about looking on google to find a way to remove the top filter!
Well it's a pretty easy job, there are 2 screws on small brackets that stick out, that go vertically into the top of the case, if you unscrew those, you can slide the whole fan and assembly out (to the right, when the left side panel is off), you can then easily clean the whole fan unit and filter! Takes less than 5 minutes.

Interestingly, in my research I came across someone who did this, but then reversed the fan so it acts as an exhaust and claimed it lowered his case (core and gpu) temps by a great deal. Thought I'd also give it a go, and wow, my core temps under prime 95 have reduced by about 10 degrees C!

Highly recommend you give this a go.
I've also turned off my rear exhaust fan, so now my case is quieter and cooler. RESULT!

Here's a photo of the removed top fan and filter is off to be washed! :D Woot!

You can see the two screw point brackets sticking up from the fan case in the photo, on the edge of the case closest to the bottom of the photo.

Liquid cooler sounds interesting. Looking forward to seeing their new products this year including the FT05 as mentioned above.

Yeah the PSU filter is a pain and not one that gets cleaned that often.
