Hey guys,

I'm going to be converting my Akasa Eclipse 62 box (specs in sig) to a HTPC soon, and I need to know what sort of cooling would be best for this case. Currently looking at tower cooling and flat heatpipe type cooling.

I have a Noctua U12F but I was going to sell that and buy something else anyway as I hate the way it fastens to the motherboard, and I'd prefer to keep using some sort of tower cooler if they are able to fit in this case, but I can switch to a flat heatpipe cooler of a similar design to the Thermalright SI-128.

Thanks in advance for any advice, especially if you own this case!

Sincerely,
Ulfhedjinn.

scythe ninjas, tuniq towers, thermalright ultra extremes........none of them fit:p just go for the bigggest flat or orb type heatsink you can. ive got a cheapy thermaltake max orb in mine, does the job well enough:)

I completely forgot about flat orb coolers. Your setup looks gorgeous by the way. :)

Which is currently the best orb to buy (keeping value for money in mind too)?

Edit: Found a Thermaltake Max Orb like yours for £28, might just get that. Thanks. :)

Edit: Thermaltake Big Typhoon a bit of a tight squeeze?

i cant see it fitting, no. the case isnt as high as a normal atx would be on its side, y'see. there's only limited room. for £28 give it a go. might be a push cooling a quad in a htpc case though lol

Hmmmm... :(

I suppose I could always just buy the case and stick the stock cooler on for a while as that's bound to fit.

Zalman 8700? that should fit :)
That does look like a good choice and I've had great experiences with Zalman coolers in the past.

I'm also open to different case suggestions by the way, as long as it's fully ATX and about the same size as the one I'm currently looking at as it's going in the bottom shelf of a TV stand.

i dont think you'll find a better one than the lc17. there's only really the antec fusion but they just dont look as good or offer the cooling capacity:)

Not to mention that they cost a bomb, I'm not really liking the idea of going over £60 and I've found the LC17 for £60 pretty much on the dot. I think I'll order the LC17 and use my stock Intel cooler until I find one I like.

Thanks a lot for your help James, it's appreciated. :)

Edit: Ordered it, it's coming Monday.
