Looking to do a major rebuild. I'd like to keep it reasonably small and am unlikely to do another significant upgrade for a few years, so would like to have a USB C on the front.

Looking round, I haven't found many mATX cases with USB C and which I think will work, but the Lucid LD01B looks like it might. More money than I really wanted to spend, but it does look smart too and I don't want any RGB etc!

I may do a fairly low level overclock, but only something well within limits.

So, can I fit everything in?
Will it work OK?
Any suggestions on install or fans or anything else I should know or think about?
Any other cases to consider?

Or, should I just go for something bigger and maybe swap the B450 Mortar Max for a B450 Tomahawk Max?!!

Keeping these:

=======================================================
1 x Samsung 256GB SSD 830 Series SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive - (MZ-7PC256B/WW)
2 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 750GB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache - OEM (WD7500AZEX)
1 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 2TB SATA 6Gb/s - OEM
1 x Corsair Enthusiast Series TX550M High Performance 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply (CP-9020001-UK)
=======================================================

and proposing to add these:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £657.25 (includes shipping: £12.30)

Many thanks!!

do you need usb-c ports on the case?
the mortar max has a rear usb-c port already
and if you're thinking of keeping the build for a fair few years...the rx590 is anaemic...

my 2p would be to get a cheaper case and to get a vega 56 (can be had for £270 - not from ocuk)

Thanks for the feedback.

Do I need USB-C? Probably not need. But I just feel more and more is going to become USB-C and I'm likely to keep whatever case for at lease 3-5 years, so seems to make sense?

Can get this: MSI Radeon RX Vega 56 Air Boost 8GB OC HBM2 for £230, but isn't that older tech? The RX590 seems to be recommended a lot? But maybe a case thread not the right place to discuss?! I did post a general question under gaming rigs, but no-one replied - hence I thought I'd pick off the individual components!

so seems to make sense?
not really tbh. not as if one cannot get usb-c to usb-a cables/adapters for pennies

MSI Radeon RX Vega 56 Air Boost 8GB OC HBM2 for £230
not the airboost - these are blower coolers = hot and loud
this: PowerColor AMD Radeon RX VEGA 56 Red Dragon

The RX590 seems to be recommended a lot?
nope. rather get the 1660 (non-ti) than the rx 590
but i'd rather get the vega 56 than the above two

probably missed it lol

Yes, but then you don't get all the USB C goodness!!
But not sure how important that is.

Thanks - been reading about the Vega and had just about worked that out for myself too!!

But the Vega is another £80 and I don't game at all and my teenagers (boy 14/16) aren't that in to gaming - tend to play for a week or two, then drop it for a few weeks. Plus anything will be a major uplift to what we have now!

Is buying a second hand Vega worth considering, or is there a chance they'd have been used for mining etc?

probably missed it lol

NP!

nada imo

depends on what exactly you're going to use the computer for - which you haven't mentioned
if it's basically word and youtube, you might find the performance uplift minimal, even with a completely new system

depending on the price of course.
mining or no mining makes minimal difference imo

Sorry, I did in my original thread, https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...-micro-atx-spec-check-advice-please.18867614/

I won't use it for much that will stress it all!! Photoshop etc about as tough as it gets. Although I frequently seem to run Chrome with about 100 tabs!!

Main reason for anything even a bit chunky is kids. Battlefield is probably current favourite. One is also quite arty / DT and does videos and presentations etc. But sure any option will probably cope just fine with that.
