Silverstone ML05 and Celeron 1037u build

Hi,

Just thought I'd post this as a few people might be interested. Spec is as follows:

Silverstone ML05
Biostar NM70I-1037u ITX motherboard
4gb DDR3 1333
Adata 64gb SSD
TBS PCIe Dual DVB-S tuner
PicoPSU 120

I had to add a hole for the DC power, as you can see in the last picture - it looks pretty neat. I've got intentions to place a 120mm fan directly above the CPU and put a passive heatsink on instead, it's a little noisy as it is currently.

By all accounts the case is much bigger than I need, but it was the smallest case at a reasonable price that allowed a PCIe card to be installed - the Streacoms looks nicer but were over twice the price.

I already had the Hard drive, but they're about 40-50 for a small SSD these days.


I've installed a 'bequiet' 120mm fan now, 800rpm version. It's much quieter now, and I've removed the standard 40mm fan so it's blowing directly onto the heatsink. Temperatures are topping out around 65°C, which is a little high but par for the course for a small system like this I think. I've got a larger Zalman heatsink on it's way now, that should help.

The fan grill that the 120mm fan attaches to seems to add a bit of noise when the lid is put on, so I'll have to investigate.

I am looking into these cheapy boards for an HTPC. Do you run XBMC? Does it run 1080p alright?

Yeah it's for XBMC. It plays 1080p and live TV (HD) fine with no issues. There's a certain argument that AMD APU's are better for video acceleration, but this is fine for me and it's a much quicker CPU than an E350 for instance.
