Hi guys!
So since I got a Silverstone Sugo SG01 back in October last year I've found cooling a bit of a nightmare...until now.
Picked up the new Silverstone NT06-PRO which is the successor to the NT06-E
which was fanless for the SFF's.
Measuring in at 82mm in height and packing a 120mm fan on the underside the Cooler sits itself directly under the PSU and allows hot air to escape through the cooler and PSU.
Running an i7 930 Bloomfield it's been quite the hassle to cool which has turned recently into some instability and poor temps especially when clocked.
Even with a modest clock of 3.2Ghz I was looking at temps of 55 idle and upwards of 80+ on load. I have been testing a series of coolers to try and get something working well but any fan combo's were either too loud or just not up to the job.
So I received the cooler today and it was nice and simple to install however the securing plate over the connection was a bit of a hassle to get on properly.
In terms of direction I wanted it facing the back of the case simply to ensure the full surface of the cooler was under the PSU fan and in doing so the Cooler itself creeps just out of the dimensions of the case...but with a bit of persuasion you can get the thing to close As you can also see from the pics below, RAM clearance isn't an issue either on which is good for anyone with heatsinked ram. I'm simply running one 8GB stick of Team Elite at the moment.
Only just got the cooler installed so had a quick go with 3.8Ghz (Which really wasn't possible with the heat it was producing)
Core i7 930 Bloomfield @ 3.8Ghz *Fan set to Standard on QFan control on bios*
Quick 3D Mark 11 Run
Idle: Between 45-48 across all cores
Load: Between 67-69 across all cores (measured using Core Temp)
The packed in 120mm fan seems to do a decent job and doesn't get overly loud during heavy load but when gaming it would be inaudible due to sound from the game and silent at Idle.
So all in all I am more than pleased with the purchase which was around £45 and it seems to have more than solved the cooling and stability issues I was experiencing. I can now happily run at 3.8Ghz in my SFF which I'm absolutely delighted at.
