Silverstone SFX PSU Smell

Hi,

I bought a Silverstone SG06 today and a Silverstone SFX Modular PSU (£90 worth).

Suprisingly it will only fit if the fan is facing up towards the top of the case due to the power cables. (would have thought Silverstone would have checked this)

I have a slight electrical smell from the PSU , its not really bad but enough to make me check what the smell is.

Is this normal as its facing up and the vent holes are allowing the smell out into the air or aren't PSU's supposed to smell at all?

they can smell a little bit when you first get them but it wears off :p probably just because there new but if it really stinks then its burnt out lol

Hi,

It doesn't really stink , just a bit. I'll leave it for a few days and keep the computer running as much as possible and see if it goes.

Must be faulty , been left on for hours and hours now and still smells like electrical burning smell , if anything a but more than before.
Not happy , ordered a set up and this is the third item that's been faulty now (hard drive, case front panel and now this).

i would ask OC in the customer service section and see what they say
 
Not uncommon for electrical components to smell a bit when new, but if your worried definitely bring it to OCUK's attention as mentioned. Their CS is 2nd to none
