silverstone sst-ecs03 controller card giving error code 97

I have a silverstone raid card which I`ve been using in my pci-e x4 lane on my titanium mobo.
I`ve just swapped out my case for the bequiet dark pro 900 and installed their 280mm watercooler.
However unless I put the card in the other spare X8 slot I get error code 97.
Obviously I`v solved it but still wondering why?
I have latest 1A bios installed and it worked previously in X4 slot.
Is there a setting I`ve missed?
Ther card is silverstone sst-ecs03
Any way I update the firmware on this thing?
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
The motherboard is the Z170A XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM EDITION

A quick update. If I try to enter bios through advanced set up on win 10. Again I get the 97 error code and a blank screen.
Nota major issue I can get into bios upon a clean boot.
It is interesting that the mobo is thinking its a display device.

A twist in the tale.
I'm now getting 97 led code with a blank screen.
I've whittled the prob down to residual power after shutdown.
So long as switch off psu after shutdown all reboots are fine.
14 reboots done all fine.
Could it the power front panel header thatbsits with the led headers being wrong way round?

I ended up reseating the CPU cooler and all is solved.
I was getting one core 10 degrees higher than the rest so suspected cooler wasn't mounted properly and giving undue pressure on CPU and causing pci-e slot detection issue.
