Silverstone Sugo SG06

Looks ok, but why is it silver... I certainly hope they are going to include a slimline dvd writer cover in the box as coming across silver slimline writers isn't easy.

i wonna see them make more matx cases not itx :)

as for the case its self im unsure if i like it.

They have both silver and black versions, see http://silverstonetek.com/products/p_photo.php?pno=SG06&area=usa. The only change from the SG05 is the new stepped front, which looks way worse than the simple functional design of the SG05. If they had instead chosen to redo the SG05 front in thick brushed aluminium, I think that it would have been much more convincing.

The SG06 is an Sg05, same chasis but different front, kind of like nokia phone faces, there interchangeable you can take the front from the SG06 and mount it on the Sg05 chasis, don't see why they don't sell the facia's on their own s sg05 owners can take advantge instead of buying a new chasis...

I quite like it, but only in black, not so keen on the silver.

I assume Yewen will pop in at some point to talk about availability? ;)

Front fan ventilation isn't too dissimilar to the V350. And that works fine. :)
I am not convinced (for the SG06). There will very likely be turbulence noise associated with the small side openings which will need further reduction of the rpm of the front fan. I have a Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E running at 900 rpm in the SG05; this is the highest speed at which I cannot hear it, but expect that with the same fan the SG06 will not allow above 700 rpm.

I am still waiting for retailers to stock the black version, I'm not to keen on it in silver but like it a lot in black :)

I have a similar Silverstone HTPC case that has side vents and I have no issue with fan "chuffing" and I cant see this case having problems either.

Actually thats wrong.

SG05 is 220m wide the SG06 is only 200mm
SG05 is 176mm high the SG06 is 177mm
SG05 is 276mm deep the SG06 is a colossal 286mm

:p

For the record I think the SG06 looks better than the SG05, especially in black.

Completely incorrect (about the width), see http://silverstonetek.com/products/p_spec.php?pno=SG06&area=usa. The width is 220mm, as for SG05, the two cases differ in the front panel only, as stated previously. The somewhat contrived SG06 front panel adds 10mm to the overall depth. The fact is that both the SG05 and SG06 are to some extent ugly but, at least, the SG05 ugliness had functionality as an excuse.

I took delivery of my black SG06 last week, up until now I have been waiting for the Pioneer SATA slot drive to turn up so I can install the OS.

I'm really impressed with the logical layout of the case and the front panel in the flesh looks fantastic! I have a thing for brushed black aluminium front panels :o

I can confirm that the 120mm case fan is very quiet running directly off the 12v rail, the PSU fan is slightly more audible but still very quiet, my cpu fan and Raptor drive produce more noise.

The system runs nice and cool for a SFF system, I can maintain the ridicules 4GHz overclock the E5200 managed when testing out of the case and things still stay relatively cool.

As with any SFF case the U shaped cover can be a pain to refit, but you get used to the way it locates after a while. Reminiscent of the shuttle systems I built, which were always a little fiddly.
Some people seem to have an issue with the PSU that is supplied with the case and that it has to many connections, I have some how nearly used all the connections bar the P6 power connector (who would ever need it with ITX) so I have no issues with it.

Overall another fine Silverstone case that's well priced :)

Will pop a few images up of my build in the "The SFF Case Gallery And Specs Thread" soon.

Cheers :)

The golf ball fan they use is the same on as my SG05, pretty quiet at 12V

Also please post bios settings for 4GHZ overclock, as well as make/model of memory your using, as I can't get past 2.8GHZ

I amuse you have a Zotac 9300-ITX board?

here's my BIOS settings for a prime stable 4GHz using the latest 602 flash, since I took these screens I have increased the ram frequencies a little and dropped the NB voltage down to 1.15v nothing else though.....

Just +0.12vcore seems good for a smidge over 4GHz with my chip, +0.2vcore will allow me to prime at 4.2GHz but temps sky rocket with the stock Intel cooler I'm using. This was after an hour of messing about so I maybe able to tweak it further.
My CPU is an R0 stepping E5200, M0 stepping E5200 don't seem to clock nearly as good on this board.

Im using 2GB of crucial 10th anni ram, the board allows me to overclock the ram to a maximum of 960MHz, any more and it doesn't boot. Not bad for a little ITX board that states it supports 800DDR ram max :D

Cheers :)

Imho only the SG06 is supplied with the golf ball fan, "1 x 120mm intake fan with golf blades,1200rpm 19dBA", see http://silverstonetek.com/products/p_spec.php?pno=SG06&area=usa. The SG05 is supposed to come with a "1 x 120mm intake fan 1200rpm", see http://silverstonetek.com/products/p_spec.php?pno=SG05&area=usa, but in fact the fan is a Globe S1202512L-3M, 36 dBA@1m at 12V, according to http://www.silentpcreview.com/article739-page5.html, which is way too noisy at 12V.

In fact, I do not believe that the golf ball fan on the SG06 makes just 19dBA at 1200 rmp. This would make it quieter than a Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E (1200 RPM). It probably does 24-25 dBA@1m.
