Alright folks,

Could do with some advice please.

So I decided to sell my Fractal Design Array 2 case due to realising I actually miss having an optical drive and the ease of having USB sockets at front.

Anyhow, the case I've decided to go for is the Silverstone Sugo SG06B. Similar finish but the extras I need.

The optical drive though is slimline only. I've read some reviews they state I need a buy a slimline sata adapter? I'm confused here as to what I actually need? Is it just a slimline sata at one end going into a normal sata at the other? What sort of power supply will I need for the slimline drive? Is it just a normal socket? Sigh, confused myself here.

Motherboard is the Asus E45M1-I DELUXE.

Cheers folks!

Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated!

So take the following image,

So the adapter features both the power and sata connector in one. Running from this is a normal sata lead which will connect to the motherboard as usual. How do I then connect the power lead? In the picture it's a molex but reading the case spec it only features 3 sata power leads? Basically how does the power leading from the adapter connect to the PSU?

Thanks again!
Chris

Thanks for your advice folks got my head around it now.

As I've not received the case yet I couldn't check but a YouTube clip has confirmed the case does have 2 molex leads which will do the job. Got it now!

Furthermore can anyone recommend a slot loading slimline blu-ray drive for me? And I said this build was to be cheap. ;)

Thanks for the info LePhuronn, nice to see a fellow Stokie!

Anyway, I'm officially an idiot! Received the case today, very impressed. Connected the front panel cables, power connectors etc and all was going well until I decided to use some cable ties to tidy the cables a little as it does get tight in there.

What do I go and do? I accidently cut one of my front panel cables! Yes, I'm a idiot! I basically knicked it with some nail clippers while I was trimming the ties and it doesn't work.

Thankfully it's only the +frontled light but I want it working again. What are my options folks? Is it possible to sold the cable back together with some solder? It's incredibly thin which worries me when stripping the cable.

Do I have any other options? I've looked on the Silverstone website to see if they could possible send me a replacement but they don't they're not UK based.

Sigh, I feel like crying...

Just an update.

Power LED Cable has been stripped back, soldered and heat shrinked and it now works a treat. I've been in touch with Silverstone whom will send a new replacement for 7 euro's including postage so I've ordered a new one which I'll change over when received.

LePhuronn, as you have the SG05 could you try something for me when you get time? As I said I bought the case for and sold my Fractal Array R2 as I wanted front USB ports and headphone jack. I've tried these and they work fine but I'm getting some static from the headphone jack when the USB ports are being used. It's like a buzzing sound. I presume this is interferance as they both come from the same board. Is this normal?

The motherboard headphone jack is crystal clear?

Other than this and the somewhat tight squeese it's a great case!
