Hey.

Seeing as the New DX11 cards arnt too far away i was thinking of sticking with my 8800GT fot abit longer and getting a new card when they come out. So now i got some spare money i could buy the case ive always wanted which is a Silverstone TJ07, but ny problem is this. I always see the TJ07 with Water Cooling in them, is it possible or should i say would it be ok to build a AC system inside one of them. Would consider WC but not for a while. Would have a i7 inside clocked at around 3.8Ghz. Would a decent cooler like the Noctua (dual fan one) do well to keep it cool. Or maybe the new corsair Hydro one if the air flow isnt that good.

You mainly see them with watercooling in because they are a large case, perfect for watercooling. It certainally doesn't mean they don't have excellent Air cooling performance, because they do.

If you have the spare cash then it's certainally a nice case to purchase if you have the room for it. They can be had with windows for under £200 if you don't mind silver.

Ah thats good to hear i wasnt so sure about the AC side but hearing that i think i will definitly have to purchase one. I think i would have to spend the extra bit more and the the black one with the window it looks so nice. So any decent cooler like the noctua would be ok? Or maybe try the new Hydro H50 from corsair?

Yeah, I mean at the moment the king of i7 coolers is the Prolimatech Megahalems from the reviews that I've read. Some people may not agree and there are many threads in the cooling section dedicated to that so I won't go into it. But read a few reviews on it, there are plenty about via google.

Thanks for the help Speed :)

Yup, air cooling will be fine. They have lots of space for adding more fans; I have one cable-tied under the main cable hole at the bottom of the chamber, blowing air onto the graphics card. As Speed says, people only use them for watercooling because they're huge and can hold 3+ rads.

As for a cooler; the Corsair Hydro H50 is based on the rather poor Asetek LCLC, but Corsair seem to have given it a kick up the backside, because according to this review @ H e x u s, it performs similarly to a high-end air cooler and isn't too expensive either.

Bear in mind however that because the rad requires fixing on a 120mm fan mount, you will have to attach it to one of the 120mm fans at the top of the case. These are merely held in with mesh, so I'm not sure how secure this would be.

I got my TJ07 second-hand because I couldn't stomach £250 for a new black one with a window; it also had cable routing holes pre-cut which have been very handy.

Yeh still undecided on the cooler will have a look through the Cooling thread on here and see what they have to say but sounds like Prolimatech Megahalems are the best from what Speed says.

Thanks for the reply
