Took delivery of a new SIM via a "SIM Only" contract at the beginning of the week.
Plugged it into my new phone for the first time yesterday and am getting the message "SIM failed to register on network" or similar.

Have put both a PAYG Orange and a Contract O2 SIM in the same phone and they are working fine.

I'm assuming Vodafone will need to activate this new SIM they sent me and I'll need to give them a call to do this?
Anybody happen to know the number to give them a call on for activation (doesn't appear in any of the paperwork I got with the SIM - no mention of activation or anything like that).

It should just happen, but it can take (if you read their T&C's) up to 72 hours (although I've never had a sim take that long to be registered).

I'd give it till the end of the weekend personally, but I'm sure the vodafone website has contact numbers.

At last got this issue sorted out - yes it has taken this long!
Called up on Saturday and was basically lied to by the woman I spoke with.
First telling me she couldn't do anything over the phone, then telling me I'd have to actually go into a Vodafone shop to get activated.
Finally telling me it was now done and within an hour all would be well - it wasn't.

Called again this morning.
Turns out that as I supplied a PAC code when I ordered my new SIM I have to wait for that process to finish before my SIM can be used (all other networks in the past have given me a temporary number to use until the porting process has completed, Vodafone it would appear simply don't activate anything until porting os complete).

So I've been promised everything will be up and running by midday tomorrow.
Loved the way that the woman on Saturday lied fort he whole time I spoke to her on the phone - take it she didn't want to work between Christmas and New Year :)
