Simian Group IT Apprenticeships

Can anyone tell me anything about the Simian Group Apprenticeship schemes?

My brother is interested in doing one and I'm interested to know if its a good route to go? He would prefer to learn on the job rather than take the route I did (BTEC, Degree, Job).

Are they any good?

if he gets a job with them at the end its a good choice imo.
in our current economic state vs going to uni and ending up with a load of debt. ide choose an aprentaship and you come out with the experience employers are looking for.

I can't comment on that company specifically but back in the last recession in the late 80s I opted to get a job in IT instead of going to university and it worked very well for me. When my mates came out looking for a job several years later I had already gained significant experience and had moved up in the company.

However beware of IT training companies that pretend to offer apprenticeship and don't really have anything to offer at the end.
